Our Community Partners

Ely Market has been at the heart of the community for more than 800 years. We support the work of local charities and arts organisations by regularly offering promotional stalls and craft workshops at our markets. Recently, we have started hosting free open-air theatre and dance performance which bring the whole community together.

Ely Markets and Babylon Arts regularly collaborate on local arts projects. In 2019, the Market Place was transformed into an open-air children’s theatre for a special performance of ‘Moon’ organised by Babylon Arts and the Library Presents.

In 2020, Ely Markets supported the exciting community arts project, Somewhere in Ely. This exciting collaboration included a stall providing free craft packs for children, and a live interactive dance performance in the Market Place.

Ruth Marley, the eco-superhero behind the Re-Imagine Resource Centre, has been an Ely Markets Community Partner for several years. Ruth regularly runs free children’s craft stalls at our market using amazing supplies she has saved from landfill.

Ely Markets regularly help Ely Museum with their community outreach work. Whilst the museum was closed for refurbishment, the Market offered them a place to run pop-up craft sessions in the school holidays.

Local Charities

A charity stall is available at Ely Markets on the first Saturday of every month and on Thursdays. Schools, animal charities and other local groups use these pitches to run cake or plant stalls, sell handmade crafts or to simply raise awareness for their cause.
